He’s saying that a quid pro quo is not really bribery. That’s not going to fly.
I’m not saying that Siegelman did commit bribery, but Woods has gotta keep that damn fool mouth of his shut if he thinks that giving people positions in the diplomatic corps in exchange for money isn’t graft.
If he did have something to do with bribery, I’m not shedding any tears, but the piece does raise some serious doubts about it, and I’d certainly like to see the Bush/Cheney cronies get stuffed, too.
There is ironclad concrete evidence that Siegelman is guilty. However, in the interests of national security, no one can ever know what it is. Now, everybody just go on about your business.
dday today has another interesting post on this matter. Apparently CBS didn’t quite tell all the story they had — which was that it stinks even worse. The DOJ, the judge, the Canary’s, all the playas are implicated in some high level shenanigans.
BTW Woods is on McCain’s campaign staff, as you might expect. Maybe an attempt to get all Mavericky?
