Marc Ambinder catches lizardlike NY Times columnist Bill Kristol making shit up:
Bill Kristol’s New York Times column about Barack Obama this morning contains a major, prejudicial error. [...]
But Ronald Kessler, a journalist who has written about Wright’s ministry, claims that Obama was in fact in the pews at Trinity last July 22. That’s when Wright blamed the “arrogance” of the “United States of White America” for much of the world’s suffering, especially the oppression of blacks. [...]
[...] The truth is that Obama did not attend church on July 22.
Kristol’s – and hence the Times’ – source for this trivially-falsifiable claim? Goofy wingnut website NewsMax. This calls for a week-long emergency session on the blogger ethics crisis, at the very least. In the meantime, I’m glad the Times is paying Mr. Kristol the big bucks to paraphrase Sean Hannity. He’s very serious.

I’m sure a prominent retraction will soon be forthcoming!

“lizardlike”?
Why do you hate our reptilian neighbors?

A correction has appeared, at the top of the column.
But it COULDA happened. Therefore the article is valid.

The fact that Obama wasn’t there merely strengthens his point.

In the correction, Bill says he “regrets the error.” That makes one in a row! One down, a gazabillion to go.

The lie is out there now, and it will never completely die. Mission Accomplished! There are still people who think Al Gore claimed to have invented the Internet. Chris Fucking Matthews said it again only a month ago.

If Obama wasn’t in church… he must have been attending his secret mosque!

When will Renew America receive its cite?
March 17, 2008 at 6:04 pm
[...] Here, The Editors call for a new blogger ethics panel. Because of course, bloggers don’t fact-check like the New York Times. [...]
