Matt Duss explains how Mr. Blankley is spearheading the effort to spread the latest noxious neoconservative narrative: “Iraq – The Surge Made It Worth It After All!”
Pardon me while I go bang my head against a bed of nails dipped in alcohol and coated with salt in anticipation of the media’s willing acceptance and regurgitation thereof. If anyone needs me…don’t.

Neville Chamberlain brought democracy to West Germany! If he’d kept Hitler’s expansionism in check, an undead Hitler would still rule Germany in 2008!

This is just that “flypaper strategy” nonsense again, and it conflicts with the wingnut talking point du jour that we went there to liberate them ungrateful Iraqis.

Oh dear. As soon as I read the blog post headline, I had a vision of Mary Tyler Moore tossing her beret in the air with that wretched theme song going through my head. If she comes back as a cheerfully sincere war correspondent, I’ll vote Republican. I swear I will.
Don’t push me.

Bringing the troops home becomes more imperative the longer they remain – by now they truly are, in strategic terms, ripe low-hanging fruit.
GOP born-agains better pray HARD that their latest Great Satan al-Sadr keeps his cease-fire in place for a long time, or La Surge will go down in history along with such military strokes of genius as Operation Barbarossa & Xerxes’ invasion of Greece.
