Read the IEEE Security and Privacy 2008 paper (May 18-21, 2008, and the paper is interesting and disturbing). There has been plenty of time since then to protect against this or any similar vulnerability, e.g. with a replacement or shielding.
Can’t help wondering if the Iranians have applied this to Chaney over the last few years. Having him under their control would explain a lot…

” e.g. with a replacement or shielding.”
