It’s like the GOP is incorporating the worst aspects of the caricature of affirmative action that they’ve used to drum up resentment over the past few decades: promoting incompetent, untalented individuals based almost entirely on the color of their skin or their gender.

A process the GOP started in earnest with Clarence Thomas, who is quite simply the worst Supreme Court Justice in a long, long time — and it’s a freaking lifetime job.

Also, as Kleber said.

If I don’t count my credit card debts when assessing my debt-financing costs, it’s not quite so bad – just the student loan edifice to reckon with.

But if my wife takes over the finances, and decides to count the credit card debt-financing too because, well, she’s smarter than me and that makes perfect sense, it would be rich if I accused her of doubling our debt-financing costs.

But yeah. Blame Obama for actually accounting for budgetary spending in a more transparent way. And blame him for TARP too because Bush is no longer president even though TARP was passed when he was.

I think it is a great idea to triple the budget, and the deficit (well when you compare it with the last president) especially when we’re all out of work and not making money that the government can tax.

No, I think it is a great idea to turn large surpluses into massive deficits by fighting a war of choice (and one more necessary) while massively easing the tax burden on the upper .5% because, well, they were having such a tough go at it.

I’m not crazy about Obama’s impact on deficits and debts, but, unfortunately, it’s going to take some unsavory policies to dig out of the Bush debacle.

In that vein, at least Obama’s budget has some things that we can actually use, unlike, say, craters littering Iraq. I mean, I like a hole like the next guy, but at tens of millions a pop, I could have done without.

My show-off ascetic lifestyle and all. Like the hunger artist, only I abstain from incinerating people.
