Thus, in times of recession, the government should freeze spending - just as you or I would tighten our family’s budget in the lean times.
Also, financial companies that received billions of dollars in taxpayer bailouts should continue paying hundreds of millions in bonuses to employees. Just as you or I would borrow money from a neighbor to pay the mortgage when facing eviction, and then use the money to buy a new Porsche and spend all day washing and waxing it in the driveway before paying the neighbor back. Hell, you might never pay the neighbor back. And that would be totally cool with him because, capitalism.
And if the dirty socialist bitches, well, you’ll just move to another town. With your Porsche. And then where would he be?

Also, why do they always increase defense spending in times of budget tightening?

Is there some sort of radio-active economy booster hidden in the nukes?
February 3, 2010 at 10:04 am
Because defense spending lines the pockets of many People Who Count and anyone would even mentions cutting it is a pussy.
February 3, 2010 at 10:05 am
Let’s try that again.
Because defense spending lines the pockets of many People Who Count, and anyone who even mentions cutting it is a pussy.
More coffee please!

Cut “it”? Vagina dentata?
February 3, 2010 at 10:08 am
Also… President Obama quoted a headline written by Roy Edroso.
I think this is a sign of some sort.
February 3, 2010 at 11:00 am
Only you wouldn’t actually move to a new town. You’d stay exactly where you were, get a P.O. box in the Caymans and insist that you live there while everyone can plainly see that nothing’s changed.
February 3, 2010 at 11:15 am
“just as you or I would tighten our family’s budget in the lean times.”
I thought it was our patriotic duty to go out and spend spend spend the economy back to healthy.
February 3, 2010 at 11:23 am
No, that’s only after a successful terrorist attack. At present, you are only authorized to purchase underwear with abandon.
February 3, 2010 at 11:37 am
“underwear with abandon”
I tried that. My crotch remained as uptight as ever. I prefer and recommend Depends Bitches(t)!

i would like to note that the bailout was designed to save these banks that support the entire economy. if these ppl do not get paid then they will move to another job that will pay them. that would cause a so called brain drain that would cripple these same banks and undo everything that the bailout tried to do in the first place.
so a better analogy would be that u crashed ur car that u used to give rides to the neighborhood. so the neighborhood chipped in to buy u a new car. only now theyre mad b/c u didnt get the kind of car they wanted. but theyre better off not complaining b/c they still need u for rides and if u stop giving rides then theyre screwed.
February 3, 2010 at 12:03 pm
No.
February 3, 2010 at 12:15 pm
“…the bailout was designed to save these banks that support fucked the entire economy.”
Fixed that for you….
February 3, 2010 at 1:01 pm
“… the bailout was designed to save these banks that own most of the politicians.”
There, I fixed it too.
February 3, 2010 at 2:46 pm
When I read harris’ text, I get the impression he was raised by twitters.
U no wuddimean?
February 3, 2010 at 2:51 pm
” if these ppl do not get paid then they will move to another job that will pay them. that would cause a so called brain drain that would cripple these same banks and undo everything that the bailout tried to do in the first place.”
u r king of non sequiturs, u r. the ‘brains’ that would drain are those ‘brains’ that created this disaster in the 1st place.
February 3, 2010 at 4:58 pm
harris i think u r a comedy troll b/c real ppl on the internet dont really write like prince. there u r called out. fess up or u will face waterboarding.
February 3, 2010 at 5:47 pm
I used to think this but if so, I’ve concluded the comedy is mostly unintentional.
February 3, 2010 at 1:20 pm
I am so god-damned tired of these no-brains spouting bullshit homilies about how the federal government of one of the biggest nations and economies ever to have existed is really just like your fucking family or shitty small business.
First, it’s not.
Second, give up your god-damned mortgages and small business loans so you can be sure not to live in any ‘debt’.
Third, learn how a fucking national economy is different from your god-damned tiny shitty family or your tiny shitty small business.
Dumbass fuckers.
February 3, 2010 at 2:45 pm
“Dumbass fuckers.”
Not only is this misohomosexual, it discriminates against the dumb, you smart ass fucker.
Repeal the r word!
Where is my dancing emoticon of Daffy Duck en hoot?!?
February 4, 2010 at 10:54 am
well i was just repeating what i heard a guy say on the radio except for the analagy which i made up. it made sense to me and i think its important to see both sides of the story.
think about how u would feel if u took a job and in ur contract it said that u would get a bonus if the company goals are met. and then suddenly they tell u that ur not getting a bonus even tho it was the most profitable quarter ever. u have a right to that money b/c its in the contract.
and btw the banks paid back the money so its really none of our business anyway what they pay their guys.
February 4, 2010 at 12:42 pm
harris, the whole system was gamed and scammed.
Our multi-trillion dollar economy was skimmed like a rube. The bonuses add insult to injury. Goldman was saved by money paid to it’s insolvent account holders by us. That money was not paid back, it was laundered.
February 4, 2010 at 12:47 pm
But Harris, it wasn’t the most profitable quarter ever. It was a fucking meltdown of a disaster of epic proportions of a quarter.
Jeez.
and btw the banks paid back the money so its really none of our business anyway what they pay their guys.
Um, no. AIG has not paid back the money, and neither have many of the banks (Citi anyone?). Further, the counterpayments received via AIG should count as bailage as well.
February 4, 2010 at 2:21 pm
i might misunderstand the issue or maybe u do but u seem pretty sure lol. i thought this was about some bonuses to be paid now that banks are ok again not about what happened two years ago. but still if it is in the contract that some dude gets a bonus then he should get it. in fact i think he has to by law.
February 4, 2010 at 2:35 pm
No, contracts can be voided and/or renegotiated, depending on the terms.
And look at the auto bailouts: in those instances, union contracts were…you guessed it…voided and renegotiated.
But that’s ok, because they’re just the proles. These are banking execs and AIG execs that totally tanked the world economy. So they’re worth it.
And not all the banks have paid back the TARP money. Those that haven’t can suck a dick when it comes to billion dollar bonus packages.
February 4, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Also, if you vote for Republicans, you could get a Porsche too, because, capitalism.
