Elena Kagan is not a lesbian, one of her best friends told POLITICO Tuesday night, responding to persistent rumors and innuendo about the Supreme Court nominee’s personal life.
“I’ve known her for most of her adult life and I know she’s straight,” said Sarah Walzer, Kagan’s roommate in law school and a close friend since then. “She dated men when we were in law school, we talked about men — who in our class was cute, who she would like to date, all of those things. She definitely dated when she was in D.C. after law school, when she was in Chicago – and she just didn’t find the right person.”
But, but … she plays softball! It’s like the more you find out about this woman, the less you know! Hmm. Maybe she’s one of those “man-dating lesbians” I heard about that time I listened to Rush Limbaugh with my earmuffs on. We need some kind of tie-breaker here. How many cats does she have?
Another friend, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, a member of Kagan’s social circle at Princeton University, wanted to make the same point as Walzer. “I did not go out with her, but other guys did,” he said in an email Tuesday night. “I don’t think it is my place to say more.”
Discretion – your watchword as always, Gentle Sir. OK, so she was very … active … socially. But does this alone give us enough of a window into her judicial philosophy? For example: will she adhere strictly to the original intent of the Founders, or will she just believe whichever lawyer looks most like Richard Dean Anderson? And how will she fit in with the other members of the court? It’s a good thing David Souter is retired, because he’s a sensitive boy, and I doubt his mother would leave him unsupervised with a young lady like that. God, she’d eat him alive.

I’m pretty sure al capone isn’t a lesbian…dur.

Too fuckin’ cool!
Thank you for broadening my horizons.
May 14, 2010 at 3:00 pm

May 12, 2010 at 7:40 pm
Right now, I could seriously get behind any nominee for the Supremes who would go before the Senate committee and say to Lindsay Graham: Go fuck yourself. I’ll settle for nothing less. Except maybe Diana Ross, especially if she’s already dead.
May 14, 2010 at 11:22 am
Oh, come on, set the bar a little higher. How about, “I don’t need to be a lesbian to find you unappealing, Senator”?
May 12, 2010 at 9:46 pm
I would just like to state that I am not a lesbian but that I would be more than happy to play one on TV.
May 13, 2010 at 6:27 am
Maybe we shopuld start an ‘I fucked Elena Kagan’ thread.
OK, I’ll start:
Yeah I fucked Elena Kagan. She was pretty good in bed. Moaned real loud. Typical Jewish girl, liked to suck too, and swallow.
May 13, 2010 at 3:47 pm
I snorted coke off her tits back in the 80s.
May 13, 2010 at 3:57 pm
Between innings at a softball game she was playing in.
May 13, 2010 at 4:36 pm
I saw her on a redtube sorority/professor clip. I give it a 75. No strap-on but lots of ‘after school help’.
Corporate Assets still in the top 3.
May 14, 2010 at 11:41 am
I paid her $20 to meet me in the back but she never showed up.
May 13, 2010 at 7:04 am
“How many cats does she have?”
I snorted blood over my keyboard.
May 14, 2010 at 8:26 am
“Man-dating lesbians” was good too.
May 13, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Hmm, maybe its time for the US media to leave grade school behind? Is this too much to ask?
May 13, 2010 at 7:32 pm
The rest of the world hasn’t. Don’t see why they should…
May 13, 2010 at 8:11 pm
Au contraire! The internet has moved solidly forward into high school.
May 13, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Right now, I could seriously get behind any nominee for the Supremes who would go before the Senate committee and say to Lindsay Graham: Go fuck yourself. I’ll settle for nothing less. Except maybe Diana Ross, especially if she’s already dead.

Remember The Dead Kennedys? Someday: The Dead Jacksons
May 14, 2010 at 8:16 pm
There is (or was) a band in S.F. called The Dead Kenny G’s. If only.
May 13, 2010 at 8:02 pm
These cats should have been huge.
May 13, 2010 at 8:18 pm
Funny! I remember the young 90s punk/goth/neohippy noseringers talking to each other about these guys, trying to outdo each other with ‘Yeah but I knew them before they went commersch’.
May 13, 2010 at 8:25 pm
Ah, the painfully hip were never so painful as in the 90s.
May 13, 2010 at 9:48 pm
Anyone who says they knew them before Nirvana: Unplugged is a lying asshole.
May 14, 2010 at 6:55 am
Ahem. Maybe those 90s kids were lying, but I was addicted to Up on the Sun when it came out in the mid 80s. One of the very few hip 80s albums I was actually in on. My wife hated it.
I bought the album containing Sam when it came out in ’91, but was disappointed because of the mainstream rock direction they were moving in. I gave it to my 11 year old son. He and his friends liked it…
II is supposed to be groundbreaking for the blend of country and punk, but I could never get into it. Up on the Sun is the only Meat Puppets album you need.
May 14, 2010 at 11:02 am
No way. I don’t know who started it, but god bless fiddling in rock music. I love me some fiddle. i think Cracker and/or Camper Van Beethoven was doing country type stuff in their music well before MP
May 14, 2010 at 1:37 pm
nutella, violin has been in rock since at least the mid-60s, but Meat Puppets II has no fiddle on it. What made that album distinctive was they were the first *punk* band injecting country into their songs — sacrilege in the punk scene at the time. No fiddle, but some bluegrass two-note bass lines, some lead picking that sounded countryish, and singing like a retard. (Nothing new for punk, but Meat Puppets guy was singing like a *country* retard, which was new.) But like I said, I don’t like the album.
May 14, 2010 at 3:24 pm
I didn’t mean about the fiddle in that way. I just meant that that was one aspect of country influence in rock of which I was really fond. you might be right about them being the first punk+country band. I don’t really think of them as being terribly punk, but i’m not too good about the nuances of various styles. I still can’t keep industrial and death metal straight.
May 14, 2010 at 4:10 pm
They were punk before they went commersch!
May 14, 2010 at 5:00 pm
oh, well I only know about them because of Nirvana: Unplugged so I wouldn’t know.
May 13, 2010 at 8:22 pm
May 13, 2010 at 9:48 pm
I feel hip when you guys post music of which I’m already aware.
May 14, 2010 at 6:01 am
speaking of Pete Shelly. I saw him do his solo act after the Buzzcocks, well solo plus a hired band. Damn, but they rocked. He took some old Buzzcoks tunes as well as his new ones and amped them up, fuzzed them out. One of the best concerts I ever saw.
May 13, 2010 at 8:33 pm
Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?
May 13, 2010 at 8:36 pm
Equal time…
May 13, 2010 at 10:15 pm
All this post-Boomer hipness requires some dark matter counterbalance, something uncompromisingly unhip:
May 14, 2010 at 6:03 am
Yeah but can you get Neil Young and Crazy Horse doing a cover of the Osmonds, huh?, huh?
May 14, 2010 at 7:25 am
O ye of little faith. This is the mashed up internet. With enough time, all things are possible. For now:
May 14, 2010 at 7:27 am

May 14, 2010 at 11:39 am
Oh god. I tried to watch this a second time but couldn’t. I’d rather watch that Lodger vid again. That’s an incomprehensible amount of suck.
May 13, 2010 at 10:16 pm
But just to make sure:
Teleology!
May 14, 2010 at 6:11 am
Way OT, but it has occured to me to ask — which one of the natty looking fellers on the banner at this website is The Editors?
What are the identities of the other fellers?
May 14, 2010 at 9:10 am
Partial answer.
May 14, 2010 at 12:02 pm
Does this mean that The Editors is one of two possible Ken Snyders (or are they the same person? are they related to me, who has that last name?)? Either mysteries abound or this is all a matter of public record and I am as dense as a “reporter” at such high quality media establishments as World Nut Daily or Newsbusters or Fox or the New York Times or …
May 14, 2010 at 3:32 pm
You’re Batman. So there. The secret is out. Sue me, cap3d crewsad3r.
May 14, 2010 at 11:07 am
Alright assholes, it has to be obscure but it doesn’t have to be old to be good:
May 14, 2010 at 11:37 am
That was a really lousy dream.
May 14, 2010 at 1:46 pm
I have this album; a friend introduced me to these videos some years ago.
Kenny, you might enjoy this one. Won’t embed it (it’s dirty). More amusing when you realize it was actually used as an advertisement.
May 14, 2010 at 3:23 pm
I just like teh happy. I know we’re focked. Want teh happeez. Like this:
May 14, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Yeah, well you can’t have sunshine every day, said the German vampire prog chick with her bad lipsynch.
May 14, 2010 at 6:39 pm
Enescu/Lipatti are from Roumania, home of the vamps.
May 14, 2010 at 11:15 am
hold on… holy crap… are you guys all hipsters? is that the deal? does the fact that I find this to be the most entertaining comment thread on the net indicate that I’m a hipster?
Am I ok with that?
Shit… identity crisis here…
May 14, 2010 at 12:49 pm
Well that’s not a very high bar to set, anyway.
Ah, I reprise, or maybe a remise, or maybe a reprieve:
May 14, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Yes, this answers everything. Wait, wat?
May 14, 2010 at 1:36 pm
The first time I heard this (about 15 years ago) I felt like I had heard it before in a dream.
May 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm
You were probably just remembering hearing Satie?
May 14, 2010 at 3:25 pm
except that Satie rocked:
May 14, 2010 at 5:13 pm
Yeah, I guess that’s it. But all the Satie I could ever remember hearing didn’t seem to fit.
May 14, 2010 at 3:30 pm
There’s something quite peculiar about this song.
May 14, 2010 at 5:18 pm
Yeah. Haunting and soothing at the same time.
May 15, 2010 at 11:58 pm
I was thinking it was more shimmering and white.
May 14, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Me. Or whatever Facebook presents as me. Beware. STDs and all that.
May 14, 2010 at 5:20 pm
Dude! Why’d you go and blow your cover?
May 14, 2010 at 6:41 pm
I’m more mysterious in the realz. Maybe more fun, too. Think of me as the artist formerly known as… that guy.
May 14, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Oh wow. Worseness:
I have already committed suicide, so sue me. I was only 16 when this happened. Unprotected. Innocent. This is how Woodstock died.
May 14, 2010 at 4:37 pm
And you thought the 80s were awesome? Um, they were. Because the Awesome 80s followed the Sucking seventies:
May 14, 2010 at 4:39 pm
Combine them et voila:
I punish you because I care.
May 14, 2010 at 4:42 pm
But this’ll heal yez:
What? Of *course* you feel better. Don;t argue. Shove this pill down your throat. Really. It’s a pill. (Just kidding. I don’t think MJ was a pedophile.)
May 14, 2010 at 4:44 pm
Attempting to return somewhat to the post topic
May 14, 2010 at 4:49 pm
I tried to be gay but I sucked at it. OK. Back OT:
May 14, 2010 at 5:20 pm
Okay, now you’re just creeping me out. Not 30 secs ago I did a search online for this album to download it, then I come here and you’ve posted a song from the same album. Weird.
May 14, 2010 at 5:45 pm
We are creepy bitches!
May 14, 2010 at 4:55 pm
On top of all topics, or so I say, click on this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=van+morrison+burning+ground&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
Then click on Burning Ground.
As good as anything gets, I think.
May 14, 2010 at 5:02 pm
And all I think anyone needs to say about living through this burning ground. Live, sweat, feel, die.
May 14, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Eh, never cared all that much for Van.
May 14, 2010 at 5:44 pm
‘s OK, I’m drunk. Never cared for 90+ % of minimalist punk et al mahseff. It takes all kinds. But it’s all god: here’s what I REALLY like:
I wuz bawn a po bwack chile. No idea what I’m doing here.
May 14, 2010 at 6:26 pm
Oh yeah, babe. Now your talking.
May 14, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Ack! … you’re talking.
May 14, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Wonders never cease, in spite of it all.
May 14, 2010 at 6:42 pm
Fuck me. That’s Buddy Rich on drums. I never knew he played with Bird.
May 14, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Buddy played with everyone. His fame sort of eclipsed his actual place in jazzdom. Buddy rocked. Period.
May 14, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Love how they show Bird while Rich solos. a: Bird was the star. b: bird had to love watching someone who technically could kick even his ass or at least match him.
May 14, 2010 at 7:31 pm
Shit. It blows my mind just to see Bird this clearly at all. And you just know he’s high as a kite.
May 14, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Part 2:
May 14, 2010 at 6:52 pm
Here’s some amazing shyte:
Lester’s playing is so… whatever he does. It almost sounds like some drunk slob noodling on the 1st listen. Well, he probably was plastered. But slob? No. Brilliant? Yes. Miles’ primary role model. Not Bird. Oh no. Miles was Prez man. Because Miles was *cool*. But not as cool as Prez.
May 14, 2010 at 6:44 pm
Lester Young is, for me, THE role model. Arguably, he is also and literally the Godfather of whatever hipness is. The man invented the term ‘bread’ for ‘dough’, er, $$, fer chrissake.
Hit me on my facebook and I’ll send you some excerpts from that bloody novel in progress where an 80-yr old named Carlton talks about Prez.
Cuz I love Prez. I DO. And I’m *still* drinking.
May 14, 2010 at 7:01 pm
May 14, 2010 at 7:06 pm
We think of McG as so modern but he is also one of the last bridges to them old days.
May 14, 2010 at 7:35 pm
I posted that before I listened to the whole thing. Holy shit.
May 14, 2010 at 7:02 pm
May 14, 2010 at 7:08 pm
Gotta hand it to the Brit punk:
May 14, 2010 at 7:11 pm
It always unnerves me to see William Gibson play the drums. ;)
May 14, 2010 at 8:20 pm
Speaking of Buddy Rich…
